What's Happening Around Town

Sign up at the Brownstown Recreation Department for a day trip to Put-in-Bay on July 9. Sign up before June 24. The cost is $114 and it sounds like it will be a barrel of fun! Detailed information is available at Link Brownstown Rec.

Community Garden Plots Available! Brownstown has three different types of garden plots available in the community gardens behind the police department on King Rd. or next to the Historical Society. Prices range from $10 to $25. Water is available. To purchase your plot, please contact the Brownstown Recreation Department or visit the Community Center M-F, 8am-4:30 pm.

Coming this summer, the city of Ecorse will host Downriver's 28th Senior Olympiad. Pick up applications from the Brownstown Senior Center. Applications are due June 27.

Mah Jongg
Now at the Westfield Center in Trenton on Tuesdays at 11 am in the Drop-in Center. If you already know the game or have always wanted to try it, you are invited to join them. There is no charge to play, but if you decide to join the group you will be charged $8 to obtain a yearly card from the National Mah Jongg League. Fot more information call 675-0063.

Downriver Christian Women's Fellowship is a non-denominational group that meets at the Westfield Center in Trenton on the fourth Tuesday of each month for a pot-luck luncheon and guest speakers. Did you know that some of the local bowling alleys have "drop-in" senior leagues? They are perfect for people who do not want to commit to an every week league.
Woodhaven Lanes, on Van Horn near Allen Road, offers drop-in bowling for Seniors on Mondays and Thursdays at 1:00 pm. Five dollars gets you three games, two mystery game jackpots, coffee, and cookies.
Parkway Lanes, on Fort Street just north of West Rd., offers drop-in bowling for Seniors on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm. Five dollars for three games.
Flat Rock Lanes on Telegraph offers drop-in bowling for seniors every Friday at 1:00 pm.
Fitness
